What to Bring

  • A dish to share with 10 people
  • The party will have a lot of people. To make it a success, please help by preparing a dish that will feed about 10 people. Be aware that you will not be able to reheat anything in the oven.

  • A beverage of your choice
  • If you plan to drink booze, the host recommends that you contribute to the festivities by bringing bottle(s) of wine of your liking or hard liquor. For inspiration for this years Thanksgiving, you may wish to read a recent LA Times article on the subject of Thanksgiving libation. Your host modestly suggestions the following marks of hard liquor:

    • Any sparkling wine (prosecco, cava, champagne)
    • Gin (Anchor, Old Raj, Tanqueray, Hendricks, Hayman's Old Tom Gin, Plymouth)
    • Brandy (Any French Cognac - VSOP or better, Armangac, any eau de view - especially poire williams, apricot brandy, calvados)
    • Blended Scotch/Whisk(e)y (Famous Grouse, Grants, Sheep Dip, Crown Royal, Canadian Club)
    • Any Single Malt Scotch
    • Rum (Cruzan, Appleton, St. James, Lemon Hart, Cockspur, Mount Gay, Coruba, Brugal)
    • Cordials & Liquor (Cherry Heering, Aperol, Cointreau, Limoncello, Kahlua, kirchwasser, St. Germain, green Chartreuse, absinthe)
    • Rye Whiskey (Anchor, Hudson, Old Overholt, Rittenhouse, Sazerac)

There is plenty of room in the house so if you choose to spend the night, please bring your own towel, sleeping bag/blanket, and toiletries.

Alternatively, the closest hotels are the Fullerton Marriott and the Crowne Plaza Fullerton

Dietary Considerations

Please make it known to the hosts if you have any dietary considerations that should be taken into account in preparing the menu, food, or eating/dining surfaces. The last thing Thanksgiving should have is a trip to the emergency room because of a peanut allergy.

Menu

The success of this Thanksgiving depends upon people to volunteer to cook/procure side dishes, hors d'oeuvres, beverages and desserts. The main course will be prepared by the hosts. In particular, there will be a large roasted turkey and a very large smoked ham similar to last year.

Below is a list of suggestions for what to bring. Feel free to bring whatever you like, but please do coordinate it with the host so we can avoid having 100 pumpkin pies.

Please bring a container if you would like to take some leftovers home with you.
